Work Packages

WorkPackage 1: Requirement analysis

Description

At the first stage of the WP, there will be analysis of the system requirements. Apart from the scientific information that has already been collected and studied, there are also going to be visits at businesses associated to interior design industry, sales and product promotion, where there will be presentation of the system to be developed in order to achieve collection and registration of business interest information aiming at the development of a product that fulfills real life issues of the interior design industry. Following, analysis of the collected information will take place, so as to enhance the requirements efficiently in the implementation and development procedure of the system.

WorkPackage 2: Ontology imprinting

Description

In this WP, annotation of interior spaces features will take place, as well as, clarification of their relationships. This will lead to the development of an ontology where all aspects of an interior space shall be registered by using OWL(Ontology Web Language) and alternatively conventional XML language.

WorkPackage 3: CBR based technique development based on combinatorial algorithms

Description

The ontology we are going to use in this WP, will be a simplified variation of the generic interior design ontology, which will be developed in WP2. The simplified ontology, will be formatted in a form of a hierarchically structured XML file. In this WP we aim to use the simplified XML ontology for the development of an intelligent decision support system with CBR(Case Based Reasoning) techniques based on combinatorial graph algorithms. The outcome is standalone software that provides the best possible decoration proposal to the user according to their requirements.

WorkPackage 4: Development of SWRL rules and SQWRL application for a web-based CBR application

Description

At this stage, development and introduction of rules are going to take place by using SWRL (Semantic Web Rule Language) in the OWL ontology. the aim of the introduction of SWRL rules is the further exploitation of the ontology annotation, so that it can be used by web services for the usage of the system by a simple user who seeks for information through the internet.

WorkPackage 5: Evaluation and dissemination of results

Description

This WP is responsible for the final conclusion of the project and the comparison of the performance between the web and standalone CBR systems. Also this WP is responsible for the dissemination of the results to forums, dedicated research journals and conferences.
